John Larsen’s Corner – Yamaha, Did you Know?

Today we are starting a new series called John Larsen’s corner where we will learn things about the musical industry.

Yamaha started off as Nippon Gakki Company Limited or literally translated, Musical Instrument Company. They began by making pump organs in 1897. In the year 1900 Yamaha made their first upright piano, and three years later they made their first grand piano.

In the middle 1950’s Yamaha branched off and began making motorcycles under the brand of Yamaha Motors.

The Yamaha logo is three tuning forks, which can be seen on the cast iron plates on all Yamaha acoustic pianos and motorcycles.

Today, Yamaha is the largest manufacturer of musical instruments in the world.
